ABOUT US

Where it all started! The Sofa King’s first shop (pictured below), has now sold 1000's of end-of-line, ex-catalogue, catalogue return, factory return and warehouse-damaged sofas and suites over the last few years. Appearing on many web sites because of its ‘original’ name, It ceased trading in 2008 and in 2009 The all new superstore ‘The Sofa king LTD’ opened in Northampton (pics at bottom of page). How my business works and why it’s such a success: Upon arrival at the warehouse each sofa is unpacked and checked by our trained staff, they then allocate it a stock code and a ‘grade’ from ‘A’ up to ‘F’). All the sofas we sell are in stock so we don't have to wait for manufacturers to make them to order. Hence you get your sofa more quickly and, of course, at a lower price.

If you're looking for a brand-name sofa, a 3-piece-suite or furniture at up to 75% off the original catalogue price for yourself or a loved one, then you have come to the right place! !

Here's how we do it!

The Sofa King has managed to secure these mail order catalogue returns and clearance bargains from one of the largest suppliers in the country and from the manufacturers that supply them. (We're not allowed to mention any names - but you know who we mean). What is wrong with the sofas? What is the catch?

Answer - in most cases absolutely nothing! And there is certainly no catch!

To all intents and purposes they are nearly all brand spanking new. We can sell them so cheaply simply because the catalogue companies haven't the time or the inclination to re-sell them themselves. For an easy life, the catalogue companies either return them to the manufacturer, who then sells them on, or they are sold in bulk from the catalogue companies.

Catalogue customers return furniture for all sorts of reasons - wrong colour, wrong size, can't pay for it, wouldn't fit through the door, arrived too late, changed their mind or it doesn't fit in the room. Sometimes there is an odd mark or blemish due to transit or delivery. We sell sofas returned for all these reasons and we also sell package-damaged stock and end-of-line sofas.

Grading system explained

A grades are normally 100% perfect with no marks at all, if they have a mark on it is normally so small it is hardly noticeable and is always at the back. They could be cancelled orders, wrong colour delivered, end of line (that means the catalogue company no longer have this style in the catalogue, so all the old stock is bought in bulk and then re-sold it at a massive discount), or even the wrong style/colour delivered. A Grade tends to arrive at our warehouse still in the original wrapper, never having been opened. We of course open them up to check they are ok and ready to sell at a knock down price. A Grades are normally sold at between 30% and 50% less than their original catalogue price.

B Grade - These are normally 98% perfect but may have a few small marks on, normally caused in transit. Please note: the leather or material on the B grades is NEVER ripped or torn, merely scuffed or scrapped. Don't be put off by the B grades, the grading system goes right up to F grade (for those that want a real bargain!). Remember you can always come and see the sofa prior to purchasing. B Grades are normally sold at between 40% and 50% less than the original catalogue price.

So, because of small marks like this you could save a small fortune.

I also sell C,D, E and F grade sofas and suites which are obviously even cheaper But as with all my stock everything is on display for you to see and try before you make your mind up!

The furniture I sell usually arrives at the warehouse as boxed damaged. We check it’s complete and in most cases build it before its put on display and sold at up to 75% less than its original catalogue price. Sometimes we sell flat pack items but always check every screw and fitment before we re-box it and then sell it for a knock down price!

The bedding, rugs, curtains, soft furnishings, fans, air con units, rugs, kettles, irons, blinds, toasters, diner sets, glasses, scales etc etc etc I sell are mostly catalogue returns due to package damage or wrong item delivered. Once again we check each item and sell it for a fraction of its original price!

The mattress’s/beds are mostly direct from the manufacturers and i can normally sell these at much less than any other bed retailer. Sometimes I purchase end of line beds and mattress’s. This is stock that comes direct from the shipping port in massive containers. Its stock that is end of line and there for isn’t in the latest high street catalogues, hence its sold at discounted prices. I love this stock as I can really annoy my competitors when I sell it for as much as 60% less than anyone else. Even the staff from the big bed shops using their staff discount can’t beat my prices and sneak in to grab a bargain! I hope their bosses don’t find out! Mr S at Dreams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woops!

All my stock changes on a daily basis and sometimes twice a day. So a few trips could be in order to get exactly what you want, but most of the time we should have what you require on display to take away the same day or have delivered locally within 7 days!

My advice if you live near Northampton is come and visit my massive Superstore! Its easy to find, located just past B&Q and Toys R us just over the bridge in Far Cotton, Northampton. Huge yellow building next door to the cafe with the car on the roof (click on the ‘contact’ icon at the top of this page and then on the map for full directions).
